I initially started writing my own "jam session etiquette guide" but when I searched the web I found a few similar guides, with two in particular that stuck out as being excellent.
- The first is authored by Grant "King" Koeller, who is a contributor to the Sax on the Web Saxophone Discussion Forum.
-
The second is authored by Marc-André Séguin of
Jazz
Guitar Lessons.net, a stunningly great resources for
jazz musicians and guitarists specifically.
Marc-André has really done an amazing job of building
this site over the years.
[ Marc-André Seguin - Jam Session Etiquette, the do's and dont's ]
Although they mostly make common sense, I strongly recommend that you read and understand this etiquette guide in its entirety before participating in jam sessions.
